Fury To Fight McDermott

Unbeaten up-and-coming heavyweight Luke Tyson Fury 7-0 (7) is scheduled to face the English heavyweight champion John McDermott 25-5 (16) ( won the English crown in 2 rounds when he easily beat Pele Reid in April 2008 and will be making his first defence) for the English heavyweight title on Friday, September 11th at The Brentwood Centre in Essex, England.

In the last year, McDermott had lost 2 very close fights with the British heavyweight champion Danny Williams, so if Fury can win this fight very impressively, he will be a force to be reckoned with with only 8 fights in the heavyweight division. Come back for more detailed information.

Promoter Frank Maloney Quotes

"There is no doubting Tyson’s promise, but this fight has come too soon."

"John knows that if he loses this one there will be little chance of him ever winning the British title let alone getting another challenge."

About Fury's opponents:
"They have been ordinary and the one name he did beat, Scott Belshaw is someone I released from his contract because he was so disappointing."
